Hey Neighbors,

Another year is ending, and with it Nokeland. With the emergence of other event sites and my growing devotion to other endeavors, this feels like the right moment to say goodbye.

Nokeland started when I moved back to the area (unwillingly) after a pretty rough patch in life. I was broke, bored, and looking for a way to contribute to the community while self-isolating to maintain sobriety. I was also trying to convince myself that Roanoke wasn't as dull as when I'd left it. To that extent, it worked, and I've grown a new appreciation for this place and the people here.

Big thanks to everyone who reached out to post an event and to anyone who shared the site with their family and friends. Thanks to the skint, Nonsense NYC, Philly Shows, and the now-defunct Boise Bucket List, all of which inspired Nokeland and helped me greatly in times of loneliness and displacement.

I hope you found something fun to do, and maybe made a friend or two along the way.
